The Alfred State College men's basketball team won for the second straight day at the Monroe CC Classic, 83-62 over Delaware Tech.  The Pioneers had four players finish in double figures as they improved to 2-0 on the young season.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team won for the second straight day at the Monroe CC Classic, 83-62 over Delaware Tech.  The Pioneers had four players finish in double figures as they improved to 2-0 on the young season.

Dusty Marshall (Newfield) led the way with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists while Jimmie Dillard (Gates Chili) added 16 points.  Cerrone Jackson (Forrest Hills) added 15 points, six assists, and six boards while Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) chipped in 11 points and six boards off the bench.  Fran Lantigua (Jamestown) finished with nine points and Dan Foley (Irondequoit) chipped in eight points and six boards in his first career start.

The Pioneers led 37-24 at half after shooting 45.2%.  The shot 51.5% in the second half to add to their lead and secure the victory.  The Pioneers connected on 41.2% (7 for 17) from three-point land and 87.5% (14 for 16) from the charity stripe.

The Blue and Gold continue their season opening road trip on Tuesday when they square off with Broome CC at 8 p.m. in Binghamton.
