The Alfred State College volleyball team swept through pool play at the Onondaga CC Tournament.  They downed #10 Mohawk Valley CC (30-20 & 30-14), Erie CC (30-17 & 30-19), Fulton Montgomery CC (30-4 & 30-20), and Onondaga CC (30-11 & 30-23).

The Alfred State College volleyball team swept through pool play at the Onondaga CC Tournament.  They downed #10 Mohawk Valley CC (30-20 & 30-14), Erie CC (30-17 & 30-19), Fulton Montgomery CC (30-4 & 30-20), and Onondaga CC (30-11 & 30-23). 

Versus MVCC, Shannon Jablonski (Cheektowaga) registered eight kills (.667 hitting percentage) and five digs.  Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) added seven kills and four digs, Brianne McMahon (Buffalo/Sweet Home) finished with six kills, six digs, and three aces, and Elaina Braun (Waterloo) passed out 26 assists.

McMahon had a big match versus ECC.  She registered 11 kills and eight digs.  Jerome finished with seven kills and five digs, Jablonski served six aces, and Georgia Buchholz (Andover) finished with six kills, four digs, and two blocks.  Braun passed out 27 assists.

Jablonski started the game off fast vs. Fulton Montgomery with 23 straight service points.  During that stretch she served eight aces.  She finished the match with 10 aces, seven digs, and six kills.  Jerome chipped in 11 kills (.786 hitting percentage) and five digs, Buchholz added seven kills, and McMahon finished wiht six kills.  Braun passed out 28 assists.

In their final pool play game vs. Onondaga, Braun continued to play well.  She passed out 32 assists and collected 11 digs.  McMahon had nine kills, nine digs, and three aces while Jerome finished with 13 kills and three digs.

With the victories the #9 Lady Pioneers improve to 14-2 and advance to the tournament quarterfinals as the #1 seed.  Quarterfinal action begins at 2 p.m.
