Six Pioneers Land on All-WNYAC Soccer Team

Alfred State College is represented by six players on the All-WNYAC team announced recently.  Hiroshi Ozaki (Tokyo, Japan), Caleb Drake (Jasper Troupsburg), Lucas Wales (Bath Haverling), and Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) were 1st team selections while Kevin Arilotta (Churchville) and Jason Durst (Gates Chili) were named to the 2nd team.

Alfred State College is represented by six players on the All-WNYAC team announced recently.  Hiroshi Ozaki (Tokyo, Japan), Caleb Drake (Jasper Troupsburg), Lucas Wales (Bath Haverling), and Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) were 1st team selections while Kevin Arilotta (Churchville) and Jason Durst (Gates Chili) were named to the 2nd team.

Ozaki, sophomore defender, is the lone Pioneer to be named All-WNYAC for the second time.  He scored two goals from his defensive position and help lead a defense that has allowed just 0.93 goals per game.

Drake has scored five goals and passed out two assists this year for the Blue and Gold.  He had a season high two goals in a 6-5 win over Genesee CC.

Wales is tied for the team lead with eight goals and is the team leader with 17 points.  Wales recorded a hat trick versus JCC-Olean and scored twice versus Jamestown CC.

Fabiny is 12-2 (12-0 in Region III Division III games) on the season in net.  He has recorded nine solo shutouts including seven straight.  He has made 66 saves on the season and has a 0.80 goals against average.

Arilotta has been a consistent performer all season recording three goals and passing out five assists.

Durst is tied with Wales with the eight goals from his defensive position.  He scored twice versus both Jefferson CC and Jamestown CC and scored the game winner versus Tompkins Cortland CC in the Region III Division III quarterfinals.

Fifteen different Pioneers have found the back of the net with six players scoring more than three goals.  On the defensive side of the ball the team has recorded ten shutouts on the season.

The Pioneers, currently ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, are 13-2 on the season (13-1 in Region III Division III play).  They finished the year 5-0 in WNYAC Division III play to claim the conference title.  In those games the Blue & Gold scored their WNYAC opponents 20-5 with four shutouts (the only goals allowed came in a 6-5 victory over Genesee).
