Cooper & SpencerRetirees of Alfred State College were honored recently at the school's annual recognition luncheon.  Faculty and staff members who retired this year include, l-r:  Maureen Cooper, Wellsville, instructional support associate, Culinary Arts Department, and Beverly Spencer, Almond, cleaner, Facilities Services.  Honored on the occasion of their retirement, but missing from photo:  James Falzarano, Hornell, janitor, Facilities Services; Beverly Gilbert, Hornell, secretary to the vice president of Institutional Advancement (who was also honored for 35 years of service); Mary Hayes, secretary to the vice president for Administrative Affairs; Richard Knight, university police officer, University Police; Ruthie Newell, Hornell, secretary to the vice president for Student Affairs; Mary Smith, Almond, professor, Nursing Department; Joyce Venter, Canisteo, bursar, Student Accounts; Joyce Weimer, Allentown, senior staff assistant, International Education; and Charles Wiser, Scio, instructor, Mechanical Engineering Technology Department.  All retirees received a certificate; those retiring with fewer than 25 years' service received a college plate; those retiring with 25 years or more of service received a college chair and a college plate to commemorate their time at the college.  This year's luncheon theme was Eat Fresh, Buy Local, Think Green, which hosted a variety of local vendors promoting their products and increasing awareness of the benefits of buying locally.
