The Alfred State College wrestling team spent the weekend competing at Niagara CCC.  On Friday, the Pioneers lost a close dual meet with Penn State DuBois 25-22 and then had four wrestlers finish in the top five of the Niagara Open on Saturday.

The Alfred State College wrestling team spent the weekend competing at Niagara CCC.  On Friday, the Pioneers lost a close dual meet with Penn State DuBois 25-22 and then had four wrestlers finish in the top five of the Niagara Open on Saturday.

Kyle Conrad (Bath) and TJ Nelson (Somers) earned pins in the dual match vs. DuBois while Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley), Shawn Hanrahan (Unatego), and Alex Mieczkowski (Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) all picked up victories.

At the Niagara Open, Hanrahan claimed the title at 157 lbs by defeating Mercyhurst North East's Dylan Wisner.  Peet finished 3rd at 149 lbs, Cody Dill (Unatego) took 5th at 133 lbs. and Nelson took 5th at 197 lbs.  James Barlow (Wayland Cohocton) and Mieczkowski earned 6th place finishes.

Alfred State will host their first action of 2010 this weekend.  The Pioneers battle Niagara CCC in a WNYAC dual on Friday at 7 p.m. and then welcome five other teams on Saturday for the ASC Duals.  Action on Saturday is slated to begin at Noon.
