Pioneers Win One at ASC Pod

After winning their opening match of the ASC pod 3-2 in a dramatic back-and-forth contest, the Lady Pioneers couldn't solve #8 Niagara CCC and #9 Erie CC.  The Lady Pioneers are now 12-8 on the season and 7-4 in Region III Division III play.

After winning their opening match of the ASC pod 3-2 in a dramatic back-and-forth contest, the Lady Pioneers couldn't solve #8 Niagara CCC and #9 Erie CC.  The Lady Pioneers are now 12-8 on the season and 7-4 in Region III Division III play.

In their opening match vs. Jamestown, ASC won the first two games 26-24, 25-9 but JCC rallied to win the next two, 23-25, 27-29 to set up a deciding fifth game.  In the fifth, JCC led 12-8 but the Lady Pioneers rallied for a 18-16 win.  The win was the 200th for head coach Gene Doorley during his tenure.

In their next two matches, ASC faced #9 Erie CC (19-25, 20-25, 19-25) and #8 Niagara CCC (16-25, 17-25, 18-25).  Neither Erie or Niagara has lost in Region III Division III play.

Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) finished with 32 kills, 33 digs, and five aces while Mandy Bush (Altoona, PA) had 72 assists and 24 digs.  Mishaya Tuttle (Campbell Savona) led the way with 37 digs and had 14 kills, Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) chipped in 33 digs and 21 kills, and Ashley Hulse (Hammondsport) finished with 13 blocks and 16 kills.

The blue & gold head to Jamestown CC on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. contest with the Jayhawks.
