The Alfred State men's basketball team starting five all had big performances as the Pioneers downed JCC-Olean 78-68 in a WNYAC contest on Tuesday.  The blue & gold are now 6-13 on the season and snap a eight game slide.

The Alfred State men's basketball team starting five all had big performances as the Pioneers downed JCC-Olean 78-68 in a WNYAC contest on Tuesday.  The blue & gold are now 6-13 on the season and snap a eight game slide.

Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) led the Pioneers with 24 points (10 for 11 from the foul line) and 12 rebounds.  Alex Hall (Jamaica/Forest Hills) chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds, Rasheem Creech (Brooklyn/Transit Tech) had 13, and DaQuan Allen (Brooklyn/Boys & Girls) chipped in 12 points, seven assists, and five boards.  Thomas Stein (Caledonia Mumford) had six.

Stephane Vilson led the Jaguars with 18 points and seven boards while Shawn Bailey had 17.  Ryan Carney had a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

The Pioneers and Jaguars were tied at 33-33 with just under two minutes left in the half when the Pioneers went on a 6-0 run to head into half with a 39-33 lead.  Alfred State came out of half and went on a 21-12 run to open a 60-45 lead and were able to cruise to the victory.

The Pioneers shot 47.5% from the field, 36.4% (8 for 22/6 for 13 in the 2nd half) from three, and 75% from the line.  JCC-Olean shot 33.8% from the field, 31.0% from three, and 69.2% from the line.

Alfred State travels to take on Jamestown CC on Thursday. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
