The Alfred State College baseball team swept a pair of WNYAC contests from Niagara CCC, 1-0 & 5-2, to open up the home portion of the fall season.  ASC is now 2-2 on the young season.

The Alfred State College baseball team swept a pair of WNYAC contests from Niagara CCC, 1-0 & 5-2, to open up the home portion of the fall season.  ASC is now 2-2 on the young season.

Tyler Mann (Holland Patent) tossed a complete game shutout in the opener to pace the Pioneers.  He allowed six hits while walking one and striking out six Thunderwolves.

Alfred scored the lone run of the game in the 4th when Lukas Schuetz (Schwechat, Austria) scored on a ground ball by Rudy Galan (Bronx/Monroe).  ASC was held to just three singles in the game.

In the second game, NCCC jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 3rd but the Pioneers scored two in the 4th, one in the 5th, and two in 6th to take control of the contest.  ASC was held to just four hits but took advantage of eight NCCC walks.  Schuetz and JP Frey (Erie, PA) each were 1 for 3 with a RBI.

Mitchell Kippola (Ithaca) earned his first collegiate victory with a complete game performance.  He allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking four and striking out five.

The Pioneers continue their homestand on Sunday when they host Erie CC for another WNYAC doubleheader.  First pitch is at 1 p.m.
