The Alfred State men's soccer team recorded their second straight shutout with a 3-0 victory over Corning CC on Thursday.  The Pioneers improve to 4-6-3 on the year (4-5-2 Region III Division III).


Will Loomis (Cincinnatus) got the Pioneers on the board at 8:10 mark of the 1st half when his long shot sailed over the reach of the Red Baron goalkeeper.  Seiyo Nakazawa (Shiga, Japan) made it 2-0 with five minutes remaining when he scored after getting a pass from Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond).  Porter scored 42 seconds later to cap the scoring.  Dane Dechau (Randolph) was credited with the assist.


Neither team could find the back of the net in the 2nd half.  Alfred held a 22 to 12 shot advantage in the contest.  Nick Smith (Arkport) made six saves in the first 76 minutes while Mike DePonceau (Salamanca) sealed the shutout making one save in the final 14 minutes.


The Pioneers have a few days off before traveling to Finger Lakes CC on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. contest with the Lakers.
