The Alfred State College men's basketball team climbed over .500 for the first time during the 2008-09 season with a 101-83 victory over Ithaca College JV on Thursday evening.  The Pioneers head into this weekend's ASC Tournament with a 5-4 overall mark.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team climbed over .500 for the first time during the 2008-09 season with a 101-83 victory over Ithaca College JV on Thursday evening.  The Pioneers head into this weekend's ASC Tournament with a 5-4 overall mark.

Terrell Williams (Rochester/Marshall) led ASC with 24 points while Neil Wilson (Fort Worth, TX) finished with 20.  Dan Foley (Irondequoit) added 17 points and Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) chipped in 15.  Alfred State was 18 for 20 from the foul line on the contest.

The Pioneers led 54-52 after a wild first half that featured 11 three-pointers made by the JV Bombers.  Alfred State stepped up the defense and held Ithaca to just 31 points in the second half (3 three-pointers).

Alfred State takes on Jefferson CC on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the first round of the ASC Tournament.  The contest follows the Dean College and Rockland CC contest scheduled for 5 p.m.
