The Alfred State College lacrosse team started the Mark Kanellis era with a convincing 14-4 victory over Cayuga CC in Syracuse on Thursday evening.  ASC jumped out to a 8-1 lead in the first half to cruise to the victory in Kanellis' first game as head coach.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team started the Mark Kanellis era with a convincing 14-4 victory over Cayuga CC in Syracuse on Thursday evening.  ASC jumped out to a 8-1 lead in the first half to cruise to the victory in Kanellis' first game as head coach.

James Moss (Hilton) led the blue & gold's offensive attack with five goals.  Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) and Chase Bailey (Corning West) each scored twice while Ryan Speciale (Corning West) and Mike Harris (Maine Endwell) each passed out two assists.

Kevin Gardrvits (Glen Cove), James Battaglini (Vestal), and Josh Apenowich (Corning West) all recorded their first career goals while Anthony Amoroso (Jamestown) and Tyler Baird (Corning West) chipped in a goal each.

Randy Kryszak (Orchard Park) made three saves in the first half to earn the victory in net.  Jon Shumway (Oneonta) made five saves in the second.

The Pioneers continue their season opening three-game road trip next Friday when they travel to Harford (MD) CC for a 7 p.m. contest.
