The Alfred State College men's basketball team fell behind by twenty and tried to rally but fell 88-73 to Monroe CC in the Region III Division II Tournament semifinals.  Monroe connected was 8 for 15 from three in the first half to take control of the game.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team fell behind by twenty and tried to rally but fell 88-73 to Monroe CC in the Region III Division II Tournament semifinals.  Monroe connected was 8 for 15 from three in the first half to take control of the game.

MCC's three-point barrage in the first half gave them a 48-33 lead at half.  They increased the lead to twenty points before the Pioneers made a comeback.  ASC cut the lead to 77-70 with 3:22 remaining but the Tribunes were able to finish off the game to advance to the finals.

Chris Lorenzo (Syracuse/Corcoran) led the blue and gold with a season high 21 points.  He was 6 for 11 from three-point land.  Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) finished with 18 points while Dan Foley (Irondequoit) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. 

Mark Lake Jr. led the six Tribunes that finished in double-figures in scoring with 16 points.  Kareem Brown added 13 while Tim Cokley, Jeron Belin, and Jason Mixon all finished with 11 points.  Raheem Singleton rounded added 11 points.

ASC shot just 37.9% (22 for 58) from the field, 40% (10 for 25) from three, and 76% (19 for 25) from the foul line.  MCC shot 51.6% (32 for 62) from the field, 41.7% (10 for 24) from three, and 66.7% (14 for 21) from the line.  Monroe held a 37 to 31 advantage on the boards and forced ASC into 19 turnovers.

Alfred State finishes the season with a 17-14 mark while MCC, ranked #3 in Division III of the NJCAA, improves to 26-5 on the season and will play Erie CC in the finals on Sunday.
