For the second time in less than a week the Alfred State College men's basketball team gave Erie CC all they could handle but couldn't pull off the upset of the #8 ranked Kats.  ECC used a 16 to 3 run in the 2nd half en route to a 76-67 victory.

For the second time in less than a week the Alfred State College men's basketball team gave Erie CC all they could handle but couldn't pull off the upset of the #8 ranked Kats.  ECC used a 16 to 3 run in the 2nd half en route to a 76-67 victory.

The Pioneers fall to 16-9 on the year while the Kats improve to 21-5.

Dusty Marshall (Newfield) and Fran Lantigua (Jamestown) each finished with 14 points to lead A-State.  Lantigua added seven rebounds.  Pat White (Warren, OH) chipped in 12 and Cerrone Jackson (Forrest Hills) finished with 10.

Ray Blackburn had a huge night for the Kats.  He had 26 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals.  Anthony Thomas added 23 points and nine rebounds and Serign Bah chipped in 11.

ECC led 30-24 at half but with the game tied at 41-41 with 14:23 remaining the Kats went on a 16 to 3 run to push the lead to a game-high 13 points.  ASC cut the lead to four with 1:48 remaining but never could get any closer.

The Pioneers shot just 39.6% from the field and was slowed down by 24 turnovers while the Kats shot 40% from the field and committed just 13 turnovers.

The Blue and Gold will look to bounce back on Thursday when they travel to JCC-Olean for a 7 p.m. contest versus the Jaguars at the Olean YMCA.
