Pioneers Excel in Lone Home Meet

The Alfred State College swim team had a successful evening in their lone home meet of the season.  The men's team scored 76 points and finished ahead of Erie CC (49) and Jamestown CC (39) while the women finished second with 38 points behind ECC's 63 and ahead of JCC's 35.

The Alfred State College swim team had a successful evening in their lone home meet of the season.  The men's team scored 76 points and finished ahead of Erie CC (49) and Jamestown CC (39) while the women finished second with 38 points behind ECC's 63 and ahead of JCC's 35.

Ethan Wright (Clyde Savannah) and Cory Roberts (Marcus Whitman) were each double winners.  Wright won the 50 free (23.70) and the 100 free (53.00) while Roberts won the 1650 free in 21:24.32 and the 100 butterfly in 1:01.38.  Tim Guarino (Cornwall) won the 400 IM (5:57.56)

Wright, Roberts, and Guarino teammed with Wade Harrington (Campbell Savona) on the winning 200 yard medley relay team (1:56.87). 

Ashley Andrus (Cuba Rushford) won the 200 free (2:18.15) while Emily Bergman (Horseheads) won the 100 butterfly (1:25.94) on the women's side.  The 200 medley relay team of Andrus, Bergman, Sabrina Dunning (Cuba Rushford), and Val Luppino (Buffalo/Performing Arts) finished 2nd in 2:21.68.

The blue & gold travel to Genesee CC on Saturday for the annual Last Chance Meet hosted by the Cougars.
