The Alfred State men's basketball team evened up their record with a 61-46 victory over St. John Fisher JV on Thursday evening.  The Pioneers hit seven 3-pointers to key the victory.

The Alfred State men's basketball team evened up their record at 2-2 with a 61-46 victory over St. John Fisher JV on Thursday evening.  The Pioneers hit seven 3-pointers to key the victory.

Marquis Chatman (Allen, TX) connected on four 3's and led the Pioneers with 17 points and seven boards.  Osawaru Omorogbe-Akpata (Brooklyn/Norman Thomas) chipped in 12 points while Jamar White (Laurel, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti) added seven.

The Pioneers shot 46.4% in the first half including 6 for 12 from 3-point land to lead 34-31.  Both teams struggled shooting in the 2nd half as the Pioneers outscored Fisher JV 27 to 15.  Alfred finished the day shooting 38.9% and held a 41 to 24 advantage on the boards.

Fisher was led by Justice Hoyt's 21 points on 8 for 11 shooting.  Matt Taylor added eight and Kyle Lumsden chipped in seven points and seven assists.

Alfred returns to action on Saturday when they play Rockland CC in the 1st round of the annual Alfred State Tournament.  Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. following the Fulton Montgomery CC - Monroe College JV contest at 3 p.m.
