Pioneers Drop Pair to TC3

Alfred State couldn't overcome six errors and eight walks in a doubleheader loss to Tompkins Cortland CC.  TC3 won the opener 6-1 and the nightcap 11-5.

In the opener, TC3 scored four runs in the 5th inning to take control of a tight contest.  The Pioneers were held to six hits (five singles and a double) on the day.  Eric Mehaffy (Lisbon) drove home the Pioneers lone run with a RBI groundout in the 1st inning that scored Daiki Iizuka (Chiba, Japan) who doubled to lead off the inning.

The Panthers scored four runs in the first two innings to open up an early lead that the Pioneers never could recover.  Mehaffy led the Pioneers attack with a 3 for 4 day while Greg Koller (Chesterland, OH) drove home two runs with a double in the 4th inning.

Alfred State (3-12, 2-3 RIII DIII) continues their four-game series with TC3 on Thursday.  First pitch of the DH is slated for 2 p.m.
