Pioneers Can't Stop NCCC Run

The Alfred State College men's basketball team led by as many as 16 in the 1st half but Niagara CCC used a 25-0 run that spanned the last six minutes of the 1st half and a the first five of the 2nd half to rally for a 79-66 victory.

The Alfred State College men's basketball team led by as many as 16 in the 1st half but Niagara CCC used a 25-0 run that spanned the last six minutes of the 1st half and a the first five of the 2nd half to rally for a 79-66 victory. 

NCCC couldn't get much going in the first half and the Pioneers displayed offense patience and moved the ball well to race to an early 16 point lead.  The Thunder Wolves cut into the lead but still trailed 36-30 at intermission.  They continued their run at the start of the 2nd half and never looked back.

AJ Roberts led NCCC with 22 points while Vince Kazmierzcak added 16.  Robbie Seyler and Charles Shellman both chipped in 13.  The Wolves held a 43 to 36 advantage from the field and finished the contest shooting 45.8% from the field.

Patrick Parker (Jamaica/Hillcrest) scored all of his team high 16 points in the 1st half.  Melvin Jenkins (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) finished with 11 and Tommy Hutson (Brooklyn/Susan McKinney) finished with 10.  Nick Tucker (Genesee Valley) came off the bench and had eight.

The Pioneers shot just 40.3% from the field and 28.6% from three on the game.

ASC will travel to Genesee CC on Tuesday for a 8 p.m. contest with the Cougars.
