The Alfred State College men's basketball team couldn't rally from a 10-point halftime and fell for the first time in the 2007-08 season 72-64 to Lakeland (OH) CC.  The Lakers improve to 3-1 while the Pioneers fall to 4-1.

Justin Horne and Roderick Fuller each scored 17 to pace the Laker offense.  Fuller added 10 boards to pick up the double-double.  Jahmil Rippy added 15 points off the bench while Bryan Wright finished with eight points and six assists.  Lakeland hit 10 three-pointers to pace their offense.

Jimmie Dillard (Gates Chili) led ASC with 13 points while Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) finished with 12 points and six boards.  Fran Lantigua (Jamestown) chipped in 10 points and six rebounds while Dusty Marshall (Newfield) finished with nine points.

ASC shot 47.4% (27 for 57) from the field, 33.3% (4 for 12), and 66.7% (6 for 9) from the line while Lakeland shot 46.3% (25 for 54) from the field, 41.7% (10 for 24) from three, and 66.7% (12 for 18 from the line.  The Pioneers turned the ball over 19 times and were out-rebounded 34 to 32.

The Blue and Gold return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Cayuga CC for an 8 p.m. battle with the Spartans.
