The Alfred State College wrestling team has been busy in the past couple of days competing in three dual matches and the Muskegon (MI) Open.

The Alfred State College wrestling team has been busy in the past couple of days competing in three dual matches and the Muskegon (MI) Open.

On Friday evening, the Pioneers competed in two dual matches at Muskegon CC.  They fell 39-12 to Grand Valley State and 33-21 to Triton (IL) CC.  Cody Dill (Unatego) was 2-0 on the evening.  He pinned Brock Nelson of GVS and Robert Peters of Triton.  Shawn Hanrahan (Unatego) was also 2-0 on the evening downing Taylor Collard 7-2 and Marcus McCall 13-6.  Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley) earned a pin vs. Matt McNulty of Triton while teammate Ali Hasan (Valley Central) defeated Austin Dingledine of Grand Valley 8-4.

On Saturday, Dill placed 2nd at the Muskegon Ben McMullen Open.  Dill finished 3-1 on the day at 133 lbs.  He defeated Robert Peters (Triton) 10-4, Brad Jones (Muskegon) 10-3, and Mark Johnson (Lincoln) 5-1 to advance to the finals.  In the finals he fell to Tony Lovejoy (Calumet).

Peet was the other place winner for the Pioneers at Saturday.  After falling in his opening match at 149 lbs., he pinned Tyler Carr (Muskegon Unattached) in 1:09, pinned David Lyons (Niagara CCC) in 2:58, and advanced to the 3rd place match after a medical forfeit.  In the 3rd place match he fell 10-4 to Mark Marianovich (Lincoln).

On Wednesday, ASC opened up the WNYAC action with a road dual match at Mercyhurst North East.  ASC was shorthanded and could not overcome three forfeits and fell 43-9.  Dill continued his solid efforts with a 14-9 decision over Tim Hubbard while Hasan earned a 3rd period pin of Dylan Wisner at 157.

The Pioneers travel to Jamestown CC on Monday evening for a 7 p.m. WNYAC dual match with the Jayhawks.
