The Alfred State baseball team were just outs away from defeating Monroe CC at the David Chamberlain Tournament but the Tribunes rallied for three runs in the 7th to walk-off with a 5-4 victory.

The blue & gold got on the board first with three runs in the 4th.  Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton) scored on a wild pitch, Kiele Wilson (Bath Haverling) had a RBI single, and Joe Dullea (Cold Spring/Haldane) hit a RBI sac fly.  Monroe cut the lead to 3-2 with two in the 6th inning but the Pioneers added an insurance run in the 7th on a RBI single by Wheaton.  The Tribunes were able to string together three runs in the 7th inning to earn the victory.

Eric Mehaffy (Lisbon) pitched into the 7th inning but didn't factor in the decision.  He allowed six hits and walked four in six innings of work.  He allowed three earned runs and struck out three.  Greg Koller (Chesterland, OH) was the lone Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 3.

In the second game of the day the Pioneers couldn't overcome the Ontario Terriers big innings.  The Terriers were able to take advantage of a depleted pitching staff with three runs in the 1st and 2nd and four more in the 5th.  The Pioneers were held to just two hits, a Koller double and a Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg) single.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday when they return to Region III Division III action with a 2 p.m. home doubleheader with Corning CC.
