Alfred State and Mercyhurst North East battled 110 minutes to a 1-1 tie. The Pioneers are now 1-1-2 on the season.

Lucas Wales (Bath) gave the Pioneers the lead with 36:38 remaining in the first half when he notched his second goal of the season. Steven Hickey (Rochester/Aquinas) picked up the assist.

Mercyhurst North East wasted no time and scored twenty seconds later on a goal by Peter Towner.

ASC and MNE traded chances as shots rang off the cross bar and scoring opportunities were not capitalized on. The best chance for ASC to win the game came late in the second overtime when Chris Zier made a save on a penalty kick.

ASC held a 23 to 14 shot advantage in the game. Dan Krajcir (Gloversville) made seven saves for ASC while Zier finished with six.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday when they host Genesee CC. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
