Pioneer Men Win, Ladies Fall vs. Erie

The Alfred State College men's swimming team defeated Erie CC 89-79 in a WNYAC dual match on Wednesday night at the Orvis Activities Center pool. The Lady Kats pulled off a 90-52 victory.

The Alfred State College men's swimming team defeated Erie CC 89-79 in a WNYAC dual match on Wednesday night at the Orvis Activities Center pool. The Lady Kats pulled off a 90-52 victory.

Braden Kozlowski (N. Tonawanda) was a two-event winner for the men.  He won the 200 free (1:56.90) and the 500 free (5:27.90).  Tim Guarino (Cornwall) won the 200 IM (2:32.55), Ethan Wright (Clyde Savannah) won the 100 butterfly (59.59), and Josh Stellrecht (Oakfield Alabama) won the 100 back (1:09.09).

Wright, Stellrecht, Kalem Chambliss (Alfred Almond), and Kozlowski combined to win the 400 free relay in 3:37.80.

In a tight competition, The Pioneer men gained the lead for good after the 500 free competition.  Kozlowski won the event followed by Wade Harrington (Campbell Savona).  After splitting points in the 100 breaststroke, the Pioneers secured the win by winning the 400 free relay.

Cristina Corkey (Almond) was the lone Lady Pioneer to win an individual event.  She won the 200 free in 2:20.36.  She also finished 2nd in the 100 breaststroke (1:27.90). 

Corkey joined teammates Erin Baum (Dryden), Sabrina Dunning (Cuba Rushford), and Ashley Andrus (Cuba Rushford) to win the 400 free in 4:37.91.

The Pioneers head to Herkimer CCC this weekend for the Generals Fall Invitational.  Action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
