Alfred State volleyball players Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) and Lera Braun (Waterloo) have been named All-Region following the Lady Pioneers 27-15 season. Pfleghardt was a 1st team selection while Braun was named 2nd team.

Alfred State volleyball players Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) and Lera Braun (Waterloo) have been named All-Region following the Lady Pioneers 27-15 season.  Pfleghardt was a 1st team selection while Braun was named 2nd team.


Pfleghardt led the Lady Pioneers with 422 kills (average of 3.58 per set) in her 118 sets of action.  She also collected 326 digs (2.76 per set), 73 service aces, and 21 blocks.  Pfleghardt recorded 10 or more kills in 23 matches and recorded 20 or more in two matches.  She also had 17 matches in which she had more than 10 digs. 


For her two-years at Alfred, Pfleghardt finishes with 700 kills, 650 digs, 114 aces, and 38 blocks.


Braun appeared in 125 of the teams 135 sets this season.  She averaged 7.66 assists per set (958 total assists) and recorded 299 digs.  She also was credited with 147 kills (.298 hitting percentage and 1.18 per set), 85 aces, and 15 blocks.  Braun recorded 26 games in which she had 20 or more assists, nine in which she had 30 assists or more, and two with 40 or more assists.  She also had eight games with 10 or more digs.


Pfleghardt and Braun were both honored earlier in the season with All-WNYAC honors.  Both were named 2nd team.


The Lady Pioneers finished the 2012 season with a 27-15 mark and made their 9th straight trip to the Region III Division III Tournament.
