Council members serve without salary as an advisory
group to the president of the College.

Joseph G. Pelych, Hornell, has been
appointed by the NYS Governor's Office to the Alfred State College Council.

Council members
serve without salary as an advisory group to the president of the
College.  Authority of the Council is in such areas as regulations
governing student conduct, regulations concerning care and management of campus
facilities, review of academic programs, approval of candidates for college
degrees, and selection of the College president.

Pelych, an
attorney, conducts a private legal practice and serves as the legal counsel for
the City of Hornell and the district attorney for Steuben County.

He holds a JD from
Albany Law School of Union University, a BS from Clarkson University, and an AS
from Alfred State College. 

Pelych is a member
of the Monroe County Bar Association, the Steuben County Bar Association,
Knights of Columbus (4th degree), and the Hornell Elks Club.

Pelych also serves
on the Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Hornell YMCA Youth Soccer
League. 

The Hornell High
School graduate is married to the former Susan Shepard; they are the parents of
three adult sons:  Thomas, Michael, and Joseph.
