New Professional Hires at Alfred State College

Alfred State College officials have welcomed the following professional staff to campus over the past several months:  Molly Andrus, Julie Barber, Jerri Drummond, Cathleen Engle, Jeffrey Ferrara, Jane Gilliland, Anne Holmok, Jennifer Kuhn, Antonio Lytle, Crystal Myers, Jeanine Rose, Andrew Smilinich, and Chanel Wright.

Alfred State College officials have welcomed the following professional staff to campus over the past several months:  Molly Andrus, Julie Barber, Jerri Drummond, Cathleen Engle, Jeffrey Ferrara, Jane Gilliland, Anne Holmok, Jennifer Kuhn, Antonio Lytle, Crystal Myers, Jeanine Rose, Andrew Smilinich, and Chanel Wright.

Andrus, of Canisteo, joined the Office of Communications as a graphic designer in the spring.  Her responsibilities include the design of campus publications, interfacing with printers, and some photography work.  The Plattsburgh State University graduate began her college education at Alfred State before transferring for her bachelor's degree.

Prior to joining the ASC community, Andrus worked as a production manager at Studley Printing and Publishing, Plattsburgh. 

The Canisteo Central High School graduate is the daughter of Joe and Cindie Harrington, Canisteo.  She is married to Phil Andrus.

Barber, of Hornell, has been hired by the Admissions Office to serve as a counselor where her duties include providing information to prospective students and their parents as well as school counselors about Alfred State's programs.

Prior to joining the ASC staff, Barber served as a pharmaceutical sales rep for King Pharmaceuticals and as an associate client consultant for Manning and Napier Advisors, Inc.  She holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from SUNY Geneseo.

The LeRoy Junior/Senior High School graduate is the daughter of Tom and Karen Barber, Englewood, FL.

Jerri DrummondDrummond, of Almond, has been hired as director of multicultural affairs where she develops educational programs and workshops that build multicultural awareness among students. 

Prior to joining the ASC staff, Drummond served as program coordinator for diversity, University of Maryland, College Park; she held several positions at the University of Iowa, including manager of the Afro-American Cultural Center and academic coordinator.  She also served as assistant director of intercultural programs, Loras College.

Drummond holds a PhD in student affairs administration and research from the University of Iowa, an MA in guidance and counseling from Southeast Missouri State University, and a BS from Frostburg State University.

Engle, of Almond, joined the ASC community as an EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) counselor where she assists students enrolled in the EOP program with academic, financial, and personal issues.

Cathy EnglePrior to joining The Learning Center, Engle served as a special education teacher.

Engle holds a bachelor of science degree in education from SUNY Geneseo and is currently pursuing her master's degree through Empire State College.

The Honeoye Central School graduate is the mother of Leysha, age 3.

Ferrara, formerly of Rochester, has been hired to serve as a residence hall director in the office of Residential Life, where his responsibilities include managing the facilities of Burdick Residence Hall, supervising the paraprofessional staff in Burdick, and participating in campus judicial hearings.

Jeff FerraraPrior to joining the Residential Life staff, Ferrara served in a similar capacity at SUNY Geneseo where he earned a bachelor's degree in English.

The Rush-Henrietta Senior High School graduate is the son of Joe and Sandy Ferrara, Rochester.

Gilliland, of Belmont, has been hired as the senior director of student financial services at the college, where she supervises the areas of financial aid and student accounts.

Prior to joining the ASC staff, Gilliland served as a consultant for SunGard Higher Education Corp. and as the student accounts manager at Alfred University.

Jane GillilandGilliland holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Alfred University and an associate in arts in computer science from Thiel College, Greenville, PA.

The Oswayo Valley (Shinglehouse, PA) School graduate is the daughter of Pauline Canfield and the late Leon Canfield.  She is married to Bruce Gilliland; they are the parents of two adult sons, Jason and Brandon.

Holmok, of Alfred Station, has been hired in the Athletics Department to coach women's soccer, serve as assistant coach for track and field, and as a physical education instructor.  Holmok has held similar coaching positions for the Rochester Rhinos and Alfred University.

Holmok holds a bachelor of science degree in health care administration from Alfred University. 

The Alfred-Almond Central School graduate is the daughter of Art Gaisser and the late Margaret Gaisser.  She is married to Keith Holmok; they are the parents of Alexis, Hannah, Noah, and Brady, all at home.

Kuhn, of Prattsburgh, has been hired by the Agriculture and Horticulture Department to serve as the Pioneer Farm manager where she is responsible for designing, implementing, and supervising the Pioneer Farm.

Prior to joining the ASC community, Kuhn served as a dog trainer and performer and as a child care provider.

She holds an associate's degree from Alfred State College.

The Homer High School graduate is married to Dave Kuhn; they are the parents of Nicholas Habel and Thomas Kuhn.

Antonio LytleLytle, formerly of Temple Hills, MD, has joined the Student Affairs division as assistant director of orientation and activities and coordinator of Greek affairs.  Lytle's responsibilities include planning events for students.  Prior to joining the ASC staff, Lytle served as a graduate assistant at Miami University of Ohio.

Lytle holds a master of science degree in college student personnel from Miami University of Ohio and a bachelor's degree from the University of Hartford.

The Duke Ellington School graduate is the son of LaGreta and James Fox, Temple Hills, MD.

Myers, formerly of West Seneca, has been hired as the residence hall director of ASC's Main Gate B where she manages the facilities of Main Gate B, supervises the paraprofessional staff of that residence hall, and participates in judicial hearings on campus.

Crystal MyersPrior to joining the Residential Life staff, Myers served in a similar capacity at Monroe Community College and Alfred University.

Myers holds a master's degree in education and dual bachelor degrees in psychology and education, from Alfred University.

The Immaculata Academy (Buffalo) graduate is the daughter of Joseph and Laura Myers, West Seneca.

Rose, of Cuba, has been hired as a counselor for Counseling Services where she provides individual and group therapies as needed to ASC students.  Prior to joining the ASC community, Rose served as a children and youth service caseworker; she also served as a continuing day treatment counselor and behavior specialist at the Rehabilitation Center, Olean.

Rose holds an MSEd in counseling from St. Bonaventure University and a BSW from Edinboro University (PA).

The Cuba-Rushford Central School graduate is the daughter of Sue Ann Feldbauer, Cuba; she is married to Christopher Rose.

Smilinich, of Hornell, has been hired as the capital construction manager in Facilities Services where he organizes and supervises the construction on campus.  He manages resources and provides leadership in the execution of projects from inception to completion.

Prior to joining the ASC staff, Smilinich served as project manager, chief estimator, and safety officer for Babcock Enterprises, Ltd.; as a construction inspector for the DOT; and as a team leader in the US Marine Corps, where he served from 1990-94.

Smilinich holds a bachelor's degree in construction management and an associate's degree in construction engineering technology from Alfred State College.

The Hornell High School graduate is the son of Andrew and Sandra Smilinich of Hornell.  He is married to the former Kelly Ann Reynolds; they are the parents of Andrew and Braeden, both at home.

Chanel WrightWright, of Addison, has been hired as a residence hall director where she supervises the paraprofessional staff of that residence hall and participates in judicial hearings on campus.

Wright earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Nazareth College in 2008; she is an Addison Central School graduate.
