Muhleisen and Rusek Named Athletes of the Week

Soccer player Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) and Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) were named the Alfred State athletes of the week.


Muhleisen continued her scoring assault with six more goals in the Lady Pioneers three victories this past week.  She scored both goals in Alfred's 2-1 win over #2 Finger Lakes CC, she netted one goal in a 3-0 win at Bryant & Stratton, and capped the week with three goals and an assist in a 8-0 homecoming win over Roberts Wesleyan JV.


On the year, Muhleisen has 27 goals and seven assists. Her 27 goals is currently 2nd in NJCAA DIII and her 61 points is tied for 3rd.


Muhleisen was also named the Region III co-female athlete of the week.  She is the 3rd Pioneer to be honored this year.


Rusek was the top male finisher for the cross country team at the DeSales Invitational.  He ran the 8k course in 28:07.52 to earn 24th place.  He was the 3rd NJCAA finisher in the race that featured 225 participants representing 23 colleges.


The Lady Pioneer soccer team returns to action on Wednesday when they host Penn College at Pioneer Stadium at 7 p.m. while the cross country team has this week off before heading to the Region III Championships on October 27th at Mohawk Valley CC.
