The Alfred State men's swimming team is in 3rd place while the women's team is in 7th after day one of the Monroe CC Winter Invitational.  The men have scored 43 points while the women have 13.

Sanjay Raman (Owego Free) led the men with a 5th place finish in the 50 free (23:83).  Mark Pendleton (Beacon) was 7th in the 200 IM (2:21.90), Josh McDowell (Wayland Cohocton) was 11th in the 50 free (25.01), Tyler Easterbrook (Bath Haverling) was 12th in the 500 free (5:52.35), and Kalem Chambliss (Alfred Almond) was 12th in the 50 free (25.22)

The 400 medley relay team of Easterbrook, Pendleton, Raman, and Chambliss was 4th (4:17.54).

On the women's side:Danielle Thone (Wappingers Falls/Roy Ketcham) was 6th in the 50 free (27.71), Christy Dodd (Windsor) was 10th in the 500 free (6:22.52), and Christine Reil (Niagara Wheatfield) was 12th in the 50 free (30:54)

Action continues on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
