Men finish 2nd, Women 3rd at HCCC Swim Invite

The Alfred State College men's swimming team finished 2nd while the women finished 5th at the Herkimer CCC Fall Invitational.  The men scored 184 points and trailed only the hosts while the women scored 111.

The Alfred State College men's swimming team finished 2nd while the women finished 5th at the Herkimer CCC Fall Invitational.  The men scored 184 points and trailed only the hosts while the women scored 111.

Tim Guarino (Cornwall) won the 400 IM (5:46.66), finished 2nd in the 200 breaststroke (2:51.32), and was 3rd in the 1 meter diving competition (163.73) to lead the men.  Ethan Wright (Clyde Savannah) was 2nd in the 200 free (2:03.76) and 4th in the 100 free (53.99) while Cory Roberts (Marcus Whitman) was 2nd in the 1650 free (20:50.65).

In relay action, the 400 free relay team of Roberts, Wright, Wade Harrington (Campbell-Savona), and Josiah Halbolm (Bemus Point) finished 2nd in 3:48.80.  The 400 medley relay team of Harrington, Guarino, Roberts, and Wright also finished 2nd in 4:22.13.

On the women's side, Ashley Andrus (Cuba Rushford) won the 200 free (2:15.95) and finished 4th in the 200 backstroke (2:42.27), Jessica Hetrick (Elmira Southside) was 2nd in the 400 IM (5:50.86), 2nd in the 200 breaststroke (2:56.91), and 3rd in the 1650 free (22:59.83), and Sabrina Dunning (Cuba Rushford) was 3rd in the 500 free (6:37.74).

The Pioneers have the Thanksgiving week off and return to action on December 4-6 when they compete at the Fredonia Invitational.
