Longenecker wins NCCC Open Title

Alfred State College sophomore Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) went 3-0 in the 133 lb. weight class to win the title at the Niagara CCC Open on Saturday afternoon.  Longenecker was one of four Pioneers to finish in the top five in their weight class.

Alfred State College sophomore Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) went 3-0 in the 133 lb. weight class to win the title at the Niagara CCC Open on Saturday afternoon.  Longenecker was one of four Pioneers to finish in the top five in their weight class.

Longenecker opened up the day with a 13-4 victory and then earned a 13-6 win in the semifinals.  He earned the championship title with a 8-4 victory.

Scott Ray (Hornell) won his first two matches at 157 lbs to advance to the finals.  In the finals he suffered an injury and earned a 2nd place finish.

Devin Hennessey (Bridgewater Raynham, MA) was the busiest Pioneer en route to a 3rd place finish at 141 lbs.  Hennessey won 6-3 and 5-3 in sudden death to open up action before falling 5-1.  He rallied from the consolation bracket with a 4-3 win and in the 3rd place match he earned a 9-7 victory.

Jordan Hughson (Holley) finished the day 3-2 to earn a 5th place finish at 184.  He opened up with 13-3 and 11-4 victories but fell 13-6 and 8-3 in his next two matches.  He rebounded to win the 5th place match 18-2.

The Blue and Gold return to dual match action on Wednesday when they travel back to Niagara CCC for a WNYAC contest.  The first match is scheduled for 7 p.m.  ASC will then host their annual tournament on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
