The Alfred State lacrosse team raced out to a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter and never looked back as they downed Niagara CCC 23-8 in their home opener.  The Pioneers are now 2-0 for the first time since 2009.

The Alfred State lacrosse team raced out to a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter and never looked back as they downed Niagara CCC 23-8 in their home opener.  The Pioneers are now 2-0 for the first time since 2009.

The blue & gold led 12-3 at half and 18-3 after three quarters.  The Pioneers outshot the Thunderwolves 41 to 23 on the contest.  Eight different players scored and nine players recorded points in the game.

Brad Zacher (Medina) led the Pioneers with a nine point day.  He was credited with four goals and five assists.  Morris Rogers (East Aurora) added six goals and an assist, Chance Lowry (Waterloo) scored five goals, and Michael Hart (Ajax, ONT.) had two goals and two assists.  Kyle Davis (Cortland/Homer) had two goals and an assist, Aaron Koskowski (East Aurora) had a goal and two assists, and Frank Martin (Whitney Point) found the back of the net twice.  Keegan Phalen (East Aurora) passed out two assists and Jordan Napierala (Irondquoit) scored once.

Brad Stowell (Marcellus) earned the victory with eight saves in net during the first three quarters.  Randy Kryszak (Orchard Park) made three saves in the 4th quarter.

The Pioneers head to Franklin, MA this weekend for a 1 p.m. contest vs. Dean College.
