Lady Pioneers Win Region III Cross Country Title, Men 3rd

The Alfred State and Mohawk Valley CC women's cross country ran to a share of the Region III Championships. Both teams scored a 45 and will share the Region III title in a highly competitive race. In the men's competition the Pioneers finished 3rd out of the nine teams competing.

The Alfred State and Mohawk Valley CC women's cross country ran to a share of the Region III Championships.  Both teams scored a 45 and will share the Region III title in a highly competitive race.  In the men's competition the Pioneers finished 3rd out of the nine teams competing.


The top three teams in the women's competition were separated by a mere four points.  Alfred and MVCC both scored 45's while SUNY Delhi was right behind in 3rd with 49 points.


The Lady Pioneers were led by Kim Lupo (Auburn) who finished 6th overall in 22:31.1.  Claire Holleran (Penfield) was 7th in 22:34.7, Katy Monahan (Warsaw) was 10th in 23:11.9, and Megan Dillon (Lake Shore) was 11th (23:20.7).  Anna Burkett (Frewsburg) was 19th overall in 24:35.7.


The Lady Pioneers have now won back-to-back titles and have six titles in program history.


In the men's race, the Pioneers scored an 86 and finished behind Delhi's 48 and Mohawk Valley CC's 70.


Jedadiah Platt (Barker) led the blue & gold on the 5-mile course with a 5th place finish.  He crossed the finish line in 30:57.4.  Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) was 10th (31:29.9), Zachary Hale (Greed Athena) was 24th (33:09.3), and Casey Hopkins (Hamburg) was 25th (33:11.3).  Eric Ransley (Midlakes) was the 5th man in with a 31st place finish (34:07.0).


Both the men and women will now shift their focus to the NJCAA Division III National Championships which will take place November 10th at SUNY Delhi.
