The Alfred State College sophomore class was key as the Lady Pioneers snapped a eight game losing streak and won their home season finale, 73-68 over Erie CC.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 11-14 overall and 2-7 in WNYAC action.

The Alfred State College sophomore class was key as the Lady Pioneers snapped a eight game losing streak and won their home season finale, 73-68 over Erie CC.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 11-14 overall and 2-7 in WNYAC action.

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) had a solid all-around game finishing with 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.  Shawna McNeil (Hornell) added 17 points and nine rebound while Kim Winquist (Wilson) added a career high 15 points.  Jackie Dresser (South Seneca) came off the bench and finished with eight points and six rebounds, Amanda Blake (Cuba Rushford) added a game-high 10 boards.  The sophomore class of six players scored all but nine points.

Alexandra Hart led Erie with 31 points on 12 for 34 shooting.  Shaneya Ferguson and Melissa Schultz both finished with 10 for the Kats.  ECC shot 31.4% from the field was just 11 for 23 from the foul line.

The Pioneers and the Kats most likely will meet again next Wednesday in the first round of the Region III Division II Tournament.  The game will be played at Flickenger Center.

ASC concludes the regular season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. road game at Niagara CCC.
