The Alfred State College volleyball team entered the Western New York Athletic Conference tournament as the #5 seed and finished the day 1-1.  The Lady Pioneers are now 22-15 on the year.

The Alfred State College volleyball team entered the Western New York Athletic Conference tournament as the #5 seed and finished the day 1-1.  The Lady Pioneers are now 22-15 on the year.

ASC defeated #4 seed Jamestown CC 25-21, 25-23, 25-21 to advance to the semifinals vs. #1 Niagara CCC.  Against NCCC, the Pioneers won the opening game 25-16 but then fell 23-25, 14-25, 23-25.

Meghan Kraus (Trumansburg) recorded 25 kills, 15 digs, and three aces on the day while Ashley Hulse (Hammondsport) had 14 kills, 12 digs, and eight blocks.  Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) finished with 10 kills, 11 digs, and four aces, Mandy Bush (Altoona, PA) had 44 assists, Mishaya Tuttle (Campbell Savona) had 30 digs, and Taylor McCarthy (Watkins Glen) chipped in 23 digs.

Hulse was named to the All-Tournament.  Niagara went on to defeat Genesee CC in the WNYAC Finals, 3-0.

The All-WNYAC teams were also announced at the annual tournament.  Bush was named to the 1st team, Kraus to the 2nd team, and Pfleghardt was a 3rd team selection.

The blue & gold now shift their focus to the Region III Division III Tournament next Saturday.  ASC will be the #6 seed and will be in a pool with #2 Erie CC, #3 Finger Lakes CC, and #7 SUNY Adirondack.
