Lady Pioneers Split in Myrtle

The Alfred State College softball team split a doubleheader on day two of their trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Lady Pioneers fell 7-1 to Region III foe Genesee CC but bounced back for a 10-1 victory over Dutchess CC.

The Alfred State College softball team split a doubleheader on day two of their trip to Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Lady Pioneers fell 7-1 to Region III foe Genesee CC but bounced back for a 10-1 victory over Dutchess CC.

GCC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and never looked back.  Kate Bailey (West Valley) was the lone Lady Pioneer with multiple hits finishing 2 for 4 with a 2B.  Amber Harding (Fillmore) scored the lone run and connected on a double.

Versus Dutchess, ASC sent 12 batters to the plate in the first inning and plated eight runs en route to the five inning victory.  Bailey led the way with a 3 for 4 day while Angie Depew (Wellsville) was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.  Tara Scholla (Genesee Valley) was 2 for 2 with two stolen bases and Athena Scavo (Hornell) was 2 for 4 with a RBI.  In total, the Lady Pioneers pounded out 14 hits.

Pam Rupp (Cattaraugus Little Valley) allowed just three hits and one run in five innings to pick of the victory.  She walked three and struck out one.

ASC (1-3) returns to the field at Snowbird Softball on Wednesday when they take on Herkimer County CC (9 a.m.) and Danville (IL) Area CC (11 a.m.)
