Lady Pioneers Shut Down #8 Herkimer

The Alfred State women's soccer team recorded their 12th straight victory with a 3-0 decision over #8 Herkimer CCC on Saturday afternoon. The #4 ranked Lady Pioneers are now 12-1 on the season and 11-0 in Region III Division III play.

The Alfred State women's soccer team recorded their 12th straight victory with a 3-0 decision over #8 Herkimer CCC on Saturday afternoon.  The #4 ranked Lady Pioneers are now 12-1 on the season and 11-0 in Region III Division III play.


Kali Muhleisen (Alfred Almond) got the blue & gold on the board 30 minutes into the game when her shot snuck through the Herkimer goalies hands.  Taylor Waite (Genesee Valley) picked up the assist.


Keri Teufel (Sachem) added an insurance goal late in the 1st half when she bent a corner kick into the net.  HCCC had their best scoring chances in the closing seconds of the half but Krista DeCarlo (West Islip) made two great saves to keep the Generals off the board.


With 3:01 remaining in the contest, Waite scored her first goal of the year to add some more insurance.  Keri Bellavia (Greece Athena) picked up the assist.


Alfred held a 38 to 6 shot advantage (21 to 3 shots on goal) in the contest.  DeCarlo made three saves to record her 5th solo shutout of the year.  The shutout was the 9th of the year for Alfred State and the 5th in a row.


During the blue & gold's 12-game winning streak they now have outscored opponents 51 to 3.


Alfred faces their biggest challenge to date on Tuesday when they travel to Finger Lakes CC for a 4 p.m. contest with the Lady Lakers. FLCC is currently ranked #2 in the country.
