Lady Pioneers open up 2012 with Win

The Alfred State College women's basketball team got back on the court for the first time in over a month with a 64-46 victory at Pitt-Titusville on Thursday.  The Lady Pioneers are now 9-4 on the season heading into their WNYAC opener on Saturday.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team got back on the court for the first time in over a month with a 64-46 victory at Pitt-Titusville on Thursday.  The Lady Pioneers are now 9-4 on the season heading into their WNYAC opener on Saturday.

Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) led the blue & gold with 18 points while Amie Brooks (Pavilion) chipped in 17.  Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) returned for an injury that kept her out of the last seven games and finished with 14.  Ardaisha Hudson (Brooklyn/Food & Finance) led the team with seven boards.

The Lady Pioneers held a 25-15 lead at half after shooting 34% in the first half.  In the 2nd, ASC shot 59% and was able to cruise to the victory.

ASC hosts Erie CC on Saturday in their WNYAC opener.  Opening tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
