Lady Pioneers Fall Twice In Myrtle

The Alfred State College softball team fell in both halves of their doubleheader in Myrtle Beach, SC on Tuesday.  The Lady Pioneers fell 13-0 to Mercer (NJ) County CC and 6-4 to Sussex (NJ) County CC.  ASC is now 1-3 on the year.

The Alfred State College softball team fell in both halves of their doubleheader in Myrtle Beach, SC on Tuesday.  The Lady Pioneers fell 13-0 to Mercer (NJ) County CC and 6-4 to Sussex (NJ) County CC.  ASC is now 1-3 on the year.

Kate Bailey (West Valley) collected the lone hit in game one versus Mercer.  The Lady Pioneers struggled defensively committing seven errors.

Versus Sussex, ASC fell behind 4-0 after two inning and never could rally all the way back.  They cut it to 4-3 and 5-4 and had two runners on base in the 7th inning but couldn't tie the contest.  Jackie Dresser (South Seneca) was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two runs scored, Bailey was 2 for 3 with a RBI, and Angela Depew (Wellsville) was 2 for 4 with a stolen base.  Charise Nankivell (Hornell) allowed two earned runs on eight hits on the mound.  She walked two and struck out seven.

The Lady Pioneers continue their eight-game schedule at Snowbird Softball on Wednesday when they take on Cumberland (NJ) County College at 9 a.m. and then battle Northampton (PA) CC at 10:30 a.m.
