For the third straight season the Alfred State College volleyball team will enter the Region III Division III Tournament as the #1 seed. The Lady Pioneers enter the tournament ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll with a 33-3 record.
Alfred State, who will serve as host for the third straight season, will take on #8 Corning CC on Saturday in a quarterfinal match-up at 11 a.m. The Pioneers and Red Barons have met three times with ASC coming out on top each time.
In the other quarterfinal match scheduled for 11 a.m. #2 Jamestown CC will take on #7 Hudson Valley CC. In the second session of quarterfinal matches scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., #4 Adirondack CC takes on #5 Mohawk Valley CC and #3 Niagara CC takes on #6 Monroe CC.
The semifinals are scheduled for Sunday November 2 beginning at 11 a.m. with the finals beginning at 1:30 p.m. All matches in the tournament are best of five (first four games to 25 and the deciding fifth game to 15). The winner of the Region III Division III Tournament will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Championships November 14-15 in Rochester, MN.
