The Alfred State softball team dropped a pair to Niagara CCC in a doubleheader played in a mix of rain and sleet. NCCC won 10-5 and 16-5 to drop the Lady Pioneers to 2-20 on the year.

The Alfred State softball team dropped a pair to Niagara CCC in a doubleheader played in a mix of rain and sleet.  NCCC won 10-5 and 16-5 to drop the Lady Pioneers to 2-20 on the year.

In the opener, Niagara scored in five of the seven innings taking advantage of six Pioneer errors and five walks.  The Thunderwolves collected 10 hits in the contest and kept the Pioneers from putting together a big inning.  Kaela Koerner (Greenville) was the lone Lady Pioneer with two hits finishing 2 for 3 while Renee Stanford (Canisteo Greenwood) drove in a run.

NCCC put the nightcap out of reach early as they plated 12 unearned runs in the 1st inning en route to the victory.  Tara Scholla (Genesee Valley) was 2 for 3 for the Lady Pioneers.

Alfred State heads to Broome CC on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader with the Hornets.
