The Alfred State College women's basketball team used a 16-4 second half run en route to a 71-66 victory over Niagara CCC on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 11-8 (1-3 Region III Division II) on the season.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team used a 16-4 second half run en route to a 71-66 victory over Niagara CCC on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 11-8 (1-3 Region III Division II) on the season.

With the game tied 51-51 with just over six minutes left, ASC went on the game deciding run.  The Thunder Wolves tried to cut into the lead in the final minutes but could never get closer than five.

Camille Romero (Queens Village/Mary Louis) led four Lady Pioneers with 18 points.  Amie Brooks (Pavilion) added 16, Ardaisha Hudson (Brooklyn/Food & Finance) finished with 11, and Nuri Bey (Bronx/Evander Childs) had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.  Corrine Wright (Campbell Savona) came off the bench and finished with eight.

Raylyn Brooks led NCCC with 15 points and 14 rebounds while Jasmine Shabazz chipped in 15.  Karissa Dolney had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The win snaps a Lady Pioneer four game losing streak.  ASC returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Genesee CC for a 6 p.m. tip-off with the Lady Cougars.
