The Alfred State College women's basketball team trailed 18-17 but went on a 23-7 run to gain the lead and never looked back.  The Lady Pioneers moved to the the championship game of the ASC Tournament with a 85-52 victory over Jefferson CC.

The Alfred State College women's basketball team trailed 18-17 but went on a 23-7 run to gain the lead and never looked back.  The Lady Pioneers moved to the the championship game of the ASC Tournament with a 85-52 victory over Jefferson CC.

The blue & gold used the 23-7 run to lead 40-25 but then put the game out of reach with a 21-0 run to start the second half.

Danielle Conway (Bainbrige Guilford) led the Pioneers with 22 points and 11 rebounds.  Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) had 14 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and five steals while Megan Coates (Rochester/Nazareth) had 14 points and seven boards.  Kim Winquist (Wilson) chipped in nine off the bench while Shawna McNeil (Hornell) had eight.

Jenny Jones led the Cannoneers with 15 points and eight boards while Nicole Perry chipped in 13.  Dana Stenhouse came off the bench and added 12 points.

The Pioneers (6-2) will take on Genesee CC in the championship game on Sunday beginning at Noon.  Genesee was 83-53 winner of Fulton Montgomery CC in the other first round contest.  Jefferson will take on Fulton at 10 a.m. in the consolation game.
