Lacrosse Wins Third Straight

The Alfred State College lacrosse team netted their third straight victory 19-4 over Cayuga CC on Tuesday afternoon.  Eight Pioneers found the back of the net as the team improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team netted their third straight victory 19-4 over Cayuga CC on Tuesday afternoon.  Eight Pioneers found the back of the net as the team improved to 5-1 on the season.

Ryan Grogan (Churchville Chili) led the offense with seven points on four goals and three assists.  Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit) finished with three goals and three assists, Josh Mateo (Waterloo) chipped in three goals and an assist, and Troy Johnson (Hilton) netted his first hat trick.

Ryan Speciale (Corning West) had two goals and an assist, Chase Bailey (Corning West) scored twice, and William Ardolino (William Floyd) was credited with a goal and an assist.  Single points were earned on goals by Cory Mee (Churchville Chili) and on assists by Tyler Baird (Corning West), James Moss (Hilton), and Ben Rossignolo (Churchville Chili).

Marshall Merritt (Marcellus) continued his solid play in net making 19 saves for the blue and gold.

The Pioneers got the offense going fast on a cold and blustery day by jumping out to 5-1 lead after the first quarter and a 11-1 lead at half.

ASC travels to Broome CC (2-5) on Thursday.  Opening face-off in Binghamton is scheduled for 4 p.m.
