The Alfred State College lacrosse team has climbed into the NJCAA Division III National Poll for the first time in 2009.  ASC debuts in this week's poll at the #10 spot.

The Alfred State College lacrosse team has climbed into the NJCAA Division III National Poll for the first time in 2009.  ASC debuts in this week's poll at the #10 spot.

The Pioneers have won four of their past five games and are 6-2 on the season and 4-2 in Region III play.  There two losses have come by a total of eight goals in battles with other top ten teams (#3 Herkimer and #7 Monroe CC).

Ryan Speciale (Corning West) leads the team with 26 goals (34 points) while Ryan Grogan (Churchville) has 23 goals and 21 assists.  ASC has outscored opponents 125-72 on the season.  Goalie Marshall Merritt (Marcellus) has played every minute in net and has made 134 saves.

The Blue and Gold have five games remaining during the regular season with their next face-off scheduled for Friday versus Finger Lakes CC.  Gametime is set for 4 p.m. at Pioneer Stadium.
