Kiddie Ag DayMore than 800 local school children and their teachers
attended Alfred State College's annual Kiddie Ag Day celebration sponsored by
the faculty, staff, and agriculture students at the college.  Youngsters
from Alfred-Almond; Bath; Portville Elementary and Portville Christian;
Cattaraugus-Little Valley; Cuba-Rushford; Genesee Valley; Hornell; Immaculate
Conception, Wellsville; and Scio; as well as preschoolers from the Alfred
Montessori and Andover schools; and several area home schooling families,
toured the college's farm complex viewing milking operations and general farm
activity.  The children, their teachers, and parent volunteers visited
with alpacas, horses, pigs, fowl, and sheep, and learned about animal care from
ASC student volunteers. The Allegany County Dairy Princesses, Brooke Austin,
Casey Arlig, and Megan Snyder greeted the children in the pavilion where they
received Skippy cups, cheese, yogurt tubes and milk.
