Lacrosse sophomore Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) and baseball sophomore Garrett Hoag (Dansville) have been named the Alfred State athletes of the week by the SID office. The award covers the start of the spring season for each of the teams.
Hart leads the Pioneers lacrosse team with 20 points. He has thirteen goals and seven assists for the 2-3 Pioneers. He tallied three goals vs. Herkimer CCC, two goals and two assists vs. Niagara CCC, three goals and an assist vs. Dean College, four goals and three assists at Monroe CC, and a goal and an assist vs. Tompkins Cortland CC.
Hoag leads the blue & gold with a .375 batting average (9 for 24). He has collected four doubles, a triple, and a team high 7 RBI for the 1-9 Pioneers. On Sunday, he was 4 for 5 with 5 RBI in a doubleheader vs. King's College. On the mound, Hoag has tossed 10.1 innings and struck out a team high 12.
