Volleyball player Natalie Gregory (Iroquois) and football player Brandon Moyer (Cazenovia) have been named the Alfred State College athletes of the week.
Gregory played well for the Lady Pioneers in their three matches this week. Versus Genesee CC she moved to the setter position and finished with 34 assists and 14 digs. At the WNYAC Tournament, she had 23 digs, four kills, and two blocks in the semifinal victory over Jamestown and then had seven digs, five kills, and five blocks in the finals versus Genesee CC.
For the year, Gregory is averaging 2.94 digs, 1.2 kills, and .22 blocks per game.
Moyer led the Pioneers defense with 11 tackles in their contest versus Erie. Four his tackles were solo and one resulted in a two yard loss. He also was credited with a pass break-up.
For the season, Moyer is second on the defense with 54 tackles (23 solo).
Both the volleyball and football team return to action on Saturday. The volleyball team will battle all day at the Corning CC Tournament while the football team kicks off with Lackawanna College at Maple City Park at 1 p.m.
