Four members of the Alfred State College wrestling team have earned postseason honors based on their performances at the Region III/Northeast Championships. Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) and Cody Lansberry (Kendall) earned All-Region and All-WNYAC honors while Darren Whittall (Starpoint) and Dan Dwyer (Lafayette) earned All-Region honors.
Four members of the Alfred State College wrestling team have earned postseason honors based on their performances at the Region III/Northeast Championships. Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) and Cody Lansberry (Kendall) earned All-Region and All-WNYAC honors while Darren Whittall (Starpoint) and Dan Dwyer (Lafayette) earned All-Region honors.
Gustafson has a 12-9 mark on the season heading into the NJCAA National Championships this weekend. He earned 2nd team All-Region and All-WNYAC honors with 2nd place finish at the Regional on February 15. Gustafson's season highlight came at the NCCC Open where he was 5-1 and wrestled to a 3rd place finish in a highly competitive 133 lb. field.
Lansberry finished the season with a 8-14 mark but was 3-1 at the Regionals to earn 3rd place. With his finish he earns both 2nd team All-Region and 2nd team All-Conference honors at 157 lbs.
Whittall is currently 7-15 on the season at 141 lbs. while Dwyer is 9-14 at 197 lbs. The pair earned 3rd team All-Region honors with 3rd place finishes at the Regionals. Both wrestlers will compete in this weekend's National Championships in Rochester, MN.
Gustafson, Whittall, and Dwyer begin competition at the National Championships on Friday morning.
