Four Pioneers Run to All-American Honors

Four members of the Alfred State College cross country team ran to NJCAA Division III All-American at the National Championship last weekend at Sunken Meadow State Park.  Joe Seitz (Williamsville North) ran to 2nd team honors while Alex Farrell (N. Tonawanda), Frank Mastraccio (Rome Free), and Abbey Benton (Frewsburg) were honorable mention All-Americans.

Four members of the Alfred State College cross country team ran to NJCAA Division III All-American at the National Championship last weekend at Sunken Meadow State Park.  Joe Seitz (Williamsville North) ran to 2nd team honors while Alex Farrell (N. Tonawanda), Frank Mastraccio (Rome Free), and Abbey Benton (Frewsburg) were honorable mention All-Americans.

Seitz led the men's team with a 8th place finish of the 8k course.  He crossed the finish line in 28:14.40 to repeat as an All-American.  Last year he finished 14th at the National Championships.

Farrell finished 11th for the Pioneers crossing in 28:22.70 while Mastraccio finished in 13th in 28:25.50.  The men's team finished as the Division III National Runner-ups for the second straight season.  It is also the second straight season the team has had three runners race to All-American honors.

Benton led the women's duo that competed at the National Championships.  She earned All-American honors  with a 13th place finish.  She crossed the finish line in 21:34.10.  Last year she finished 24th at the National Championship.
