Four Lady Spikers Earn All-WNYAC

Four members of the Alfred State College volleyball team were named All-WNYAC at this past weekend's conference tournament.  Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) were 1st team selections, Breanna Horton (Owego Free) was named to the 2nd team, and Emily Linn (Portville) was named 3rd team.

Four members of the Alfred State College volleyball team were named All-WNYAC at this past weekend's conference tournament.  Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) were 1st team selections, Breanna Horton (Owego Free) was named to the 2nd team, and Emily Linn (Portville) was named 3rd team.

Toyodome has recorded 321 kills (.486 hitting percentage), 252 digs, 47 blocks, and 36 service aces.  She has recorded more than 10 kills in 11 games and seven games with more than 10 digs.  Toyodome was a All-WNYAC 2nd team selection in 2006.  In tournament play this year she has been named All-Tourney at Mohawk Valley CC, Onondaga CC, Alfred State, and the WNYAC tournaments.

Jerome earns a first team selection for the second straight season.  She has 316 kills (.249 hitting percentage), 297 digs, 39 service aces and 17 blocks.  She has nine games with more than 10 kills and 11 games with more than 10 digs.  Jerome has been named the MVP of the Mohawk Valley, Alfred State, and WNYAC tournaments and All-tourney at the Onondaga Tournament.

Horton has been steady as the team's setter all season.  She has passed out 867 assists (9.5 per game), been credited with 169 digs, 66 kills, and 51 service aces.  Horton has been named All-Tourney at the Mohawk Valley and Alfred State Tournaments.

Linn has recorded 243 kills (.283 hitting percentage) on the season.  She has chipped in 165 digs, 47 blocks, and 16 service aces.

The Lady Pioneers, currently ranked #7 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, are 33-3 on the year heading into the Region III Division III Tournament.  ASC was 6-0 in WNYAC regular season play and this past weekend won the WNYAC Tournament for the first time since 1980 (the program played in the Penn-York Conference at the time).

Alfred State, the #1 seed and the host of the Regional Tournament, will take on #8 Corning CC on Saturday at 11 a.m. in quarterfinal action.
