Four members of the Alfred State baseball team have been honored by the Western New York Athletic Conference. Daiki Iizuka (Chiba, Japan) was named 2nd team while Stephen Solomon (Harrisburg, PA), Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton), and Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg).

Four members of the Alfred State baseball team have been honored by the Western New York Athletic Conference.  Daiki Iizuka (Chiba, Japan) was named 2nd team while Stephen Solomon (Harrisburg, PA), Jordan Wheaton (Wayland Cohocton), and Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg).


Iizuka led the blue & gold with a .348 batting average (8 for 23).  He collected two doubles and scored three runs.  He was also 3 for 4 on the basepaths.


Solomon tossed 26 innings this fall for the Pioneers.  He was 0-2 with a 3.46 ERA in five appearances.  He allowed 24 hits and 14 walks while striking out 24 batters.


Wheaton appeared in 10 of the team's 11 games and hit .310 this fall (9 fo 29) with two doubles, a triple, and a team high 5 RBI's.  His nine hits was the most on the team.


Rapan saw action in eight games and hit .273 (6 for 22) this fall.  he collected three doubles and drove in two runs.  He scored a team best five runs.


The blue & gold return to action in March when they begin their 2013 spring season with a trip to Hagerstown (MD) CC.
